still from Sarah Knobel, “Skipping a Heartbeat”

“Skipping a Heartbeat represents a contrast between innocence and experience of love and/or loss of love. Light-hearted images of hearts and flowers are dispersed constantly and overlay an image of a despondent girl. As the video goes on, the movement becomes a never-ending process and struggle where the romantic notion of love and what the heart symbol represents can never be met.” – Sarah Knobel

Sarah Knobel lives and works in Columbia, MO, USA. Selected Exhibitions 2006 Elaine Levy Projects, Brussels, Belgium /// Blackwood Gallery, Mississauga, ON /// 700IS Film and Video Festival, Reindeer, Iceland /// 2004 Guillardia Gallery, San Marcos, TX.
