What is silence if it is not the absence of sound? 312 presents a new two-part series—Silence (A Surface Excavation). In part one, two artists living in San Juan, Puerto Rico explore different conceptions of silence. Cintrón-Moscoso asks random individuals in a Puerto Rican park to hold a personal minute of silence for lost loved ones, while Quinteros explores political apathy and the silence of complicity by focusing on the swallowing reflex.
