1 - 31, 2005 / Tricia Middleton & Joel Taylor, “Theme
Song II”
The third video in the Performing Video series.

Tricia Middleton
and Joel Taylor revisit Vito Acconci’s “Theme Song”
(1973). A woman reclines back into the frame. She sips some wine,
then takes off her sunglasses to peer to her right, the self-conscious
tic of someone checking the mirror (or a camera’s viewfinder).
“let’s face it honey / we all want to be rock
stars at some point in our lives”.

“Translucent”
“Translucent
suggests the transient lucidity of memory, time and language.
A thought leading a trail of fragmented sensory conversation echoed
in multiple spaces driven by a steady current of connotations.
This constantly distracted, bi-polar narrative ponders the notion
of private spaces within the public sphere.”— Ori
